Colophon
My name is James Lao. I’m a student majoring in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University. When I’m not at school in Pittsburgh, I’m home in Oregon. Before college, I went to Gresham High School where I subjected myself to the IB program.
I started doing web development a few years ago. You won’t see my name on anything other this website since most of my work has been back-end development. But I’m not all about the code. I have a deep appreciation for good design and aesthetics. Software is nothing without a good UI, a sentiment I wish some of my fellow computer scientist would share.
When it came time to think about college, I knew already I wanted to be a computer scientist. Web development is fun, but it’s not what I want to do with my life. I want to use computers and technology to solve problems which I think is more akin to computer science. I graduate in 2012 (hopefully) so watch out for me then.
When I’m not writing code or going to class, I enjoy movies, music, and hanging out with friends. I’ve started dabbling in photography as well.
