I do a lot a few things well but I have come to realize there are still some basic things about being a person I need to work on some more. A few that I can think of off the top of my head:
- Smiling and saying hello to people I know when I walk pass them–I’ve just never been good at this for some reason.
- Walking people to the door.
- Expressing gratitude–I get embarrassed when people do things for me. Might be because they never did until recent years.
- Cooking (basic survival skill, mucho importante).
- Talking to people–historically not very good at this either.
A few things I’ve gotten better at recently:
- Less arrogant–finally.
- Less competitive–somewhat related to arrogance.
- Less self-conscience.
James,
Your code at:
http://nettuts.com/javascript-ajax/build-an-ajax-powered-shopping-cart/
Has some problems.
Totally blows in IE6. Get first screen, but black screen on anything past that, with “X” for single image.
In IE7 sometime blows on “DELETE” giving error on line 1 of the “cart.js” file indicating the “$” is not valid syntax.
Adapted this to a complex shopping cart I have with collapsible data rows and last order recall, but can not get the delete to work.
Could use a little help here!
Thanks!

Ah…gratitude. It can be very hard. This is one of the things my Buddhist practice has made me better at. There are others and some are related to your other self-critical points.
But don’t fret too much. Just do the best you can – that’s all anyone can ask or do at the end of the day. I hate all this “we need 110% today” malarkey in the workplace and on the sports field – there’s no such thing. “110% effort” is a totally illogical statement and is actually insulting to anyone that you are trying to inspire.
I’ll be giving the thumbnails thingy a go soon. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m quite self-referential in some of my postings (as I keep harping on about similar topics) and little pix may be a better alternative to verbose links.
Thanks James.
