Category Posts Widget update

I made a small update to my Category Posts Widget plugin regarding the problems people were having with displaying excerpts. Thanks to “carnyfeet” who posted the fix in this thread on the WordPress forums.

You can download the update at the official WordPress plugin repository or use the automatic update feature in newer versions of WordPress.

Thanks to everyone who is using the plugin! Over 10,000 downloads since I first released it in October 2007!

    Guess I want to ask for your help, in using your wonderful plugin.

    I’m trying to add the post publication date same place where post-title and excerpt are echoed -

    Where it now says “01.01.01″ (link to d-zone)

    WordPress documentation of course tells me the_date & the_time template tags have to be used inside the loop, so I can’t get your plugin to print it… Do you know how I could retrieve that value? Help much appreciated!

    I was wondering if you had a moment, and might be able to help me with a quick customization on your Category Posts Widget. All I’m wanting to do is remove the “Category Title” completely. I tried commenting out a few lines, and was able to remove it from being displayed on the blog, but then I started getting some PHP errors on the backend when working with widgets.

  3. hey James, I really like your plugin, great work. I was just wondering how come the title of my widgets, the font is black, while all other widgets its white? I’m not a coder, but I think it might be something with the CSS, like your plugin calls H2 instead of H1 heading styles or something? Any ideas? Thanks a lot.

  7. Hey James!

    Just the widget I was looking for…thanks.

    I found one minor problem… I put in a Title for one of the instances of the widget which included a single quote …which gave back a \’ in the middle of the title.

    I personally have a work around since the actual cat also had the apostrophe so if I leave the title blank – I got my desired result. But ther are times I want to use an apostrophe and it’s not part of the actual cat name.

    As I said – not a big deal – but thought you might want to know.

  8. Hi James. Your plug-in has come in quite handy for our market website, thank you. I do have a situation, when I bold words in my post they do not bold in the widget sidebar. Do you have an answer on how to get text formatting to show in the widget? Thanks!
